A German rapier, dated late 16th century, of 130cm in total length, recently sold by Czerny's auction house for €2,500. 






 
Long, straight, double-edged blade, the base with triple groove, the central one prolonged and decorated with a succession of triangles, ricasso with remains of a mark between two stars and outlined borders. Iron hilt with pointed center of crossguard, parry rings, loop-guards of round section, pommel with vertical grooves; wooden grip with wire binding and wire moor's head. Provenance: former Terenzi collection.
